Homes Care Group is recruiting for Residential Support Workers to join our Ofsted-rated Good Children's Home in the LE5 Humberstone area.
Our home is led by an experienced Registered Manager and Responsible Individual with a proven track record of delivering high-quality care, achieving positive outcomes for children and maintaining strong regulatory compliance. Purpose of the Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care to children and young people with Learning Disabilities.
Working alongside an experienced team, you will support children to develop independence, build confidence, access education and community opportunities, and enjoy meaningful experiences in a safe and nurturing home.
You will play an important role in helping each child reach their individual goals while promoting dignity, choice, inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting and supportive relationships with children and young people.
- Deliver high-quality person-centred care in line with each child's care plan.
- Promote independence by supporting children to develop everyday living and social skills.
- Encourage communication, confidence and participation in daily activities.
- Support children with routines, personal care (where appropriate), meal preparation and household activities.
- Encourage attendance at education, health appointments and therapeutic services.
- Plan and participate in enjoyable recreational, educational and community activities.
- Support children to access hobbies, interests and opportunities within their local community.
- Promote dignity, choice, inclusion and respect at all times.
- Use Positive Behaviour Support approaches to encourage positive outcomes and manage behaviours safely where required.
- Accurately complete daily recordings, incident reports, medication records and handovers.
- Administer medication safely in accordance with organisational policies where appropriately trained.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of every child.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and ongoing professional development.
- Undertake sleep-in duties and provide flexibility to work across local homes where required.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals, preferably within residential care, learning disabilities or social care.
- A caring, patient and compassionate approach.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards achieving it).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
- Willingness to work across homes within approximately a 5-6 mile radius where required.
