Job Overview
Join our Building Management Systems (BMS) Team and help maintain and optimise HVAC systems across a unique and diverse university estate.
As a Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician, you will be a key member of the University's Technical Operations Team, supporting the operation and maintenance of the Building Management System (BMS) and associated HVAC control systems across the University estate.
The University of St Andrews has a diverse estate of almost 100 buildings, from historic listed properties that are hundreds of years old to state-of-the-art teaching, research and residential facilities. The BMS plays a vital role in maintaining comfortable, safe and energy efficient environments throughout the estate.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. The position combines office-based work with practical work in buildings across the University estate. You'll investigate alarms and building performance issues, carry out fault finding and support the operation, maintenance and optimisation of building control systems. Working closely with other Estates Teams, you'll help improve system performance, reduce energy consumption and support the delivery of smart building technologies across the estate.
Applicants should ideally have a background in building services, HVAC, electrical, mechanical or a related engineering discipline and be educated to HNC level, or possess equivalent relevant experience. Previous experience with a Building Management System would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided, including formal Siemens Desigo CC and Siemens PX controller training. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills in a highly technical and rapidly evolving field.
If you enjoy fault finding, problem solving and developing new technical skills, this could be the role for you!
