The Role
This will involve providing bookkeeping services to several of our clients, as well as the preparation of MTD VAT and IT Returns, preparation of payroll and other ad hoc related tasks as may be required. The role provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience in a general practice firm.
The role requires working independently and as part of a team when required, as well as initiative, adaptability and the ability to multitask.
Responsibilities will vary by client and include:
- Processing sales and purchase invoices
- Maintain sales and purchase ledgers
- Reconcile bank transactions
- Post journals
- Preparation and submission of VAT Returns
- Submission of data for MTD for Income Tax
- Resolving and responding to queries directly with clients
- Maintaining process documentation for each client
- Use of various accounting software packages include automation software
- Contributing to continuous improvement of the bookkeeping and payroll processes for our clients.
The role can be full or part-time and is predominantly office based, with some occasions where you will attend clients’ premises, Monday to Friday.

The Person
You will preferably be AAT Qualified with experience and have strong interpersonal skills to deal with our client portfolio, or currently training for your AAT Qualification or be qualified in the sector by experience.
The skills and experience we are looking for:
- Experience of various accounting software packages including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks, as well as automation software such as Dext
- Accurate processing of sales and purchase invoices, reconciling bank transactions and maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
- Posting journals, including accruals and prepayments
- Accurate preparation and timely submission of MTD VAT and IT returns
- Motivated to support the delivery of a high-quality service to our clients
- Ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively
- Your work must be accurate and timely and investigative in nature when required, with a high attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with our team and our clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be adaptable to varied workflows and proactive in your approach to your work
- Some payroll knowledge will be beneficial, but not essential.
Ongoing practical training, CPD and support will be provided as required.
