Experienced Bar & Waiting Staff
The Portcullis is looking for an experienced, reliable and confident person to join our busy bar and waiting team.
This role involves serving customers across our bar, restaurant and function areas. The successful candidate must be flexible and available to work a variety of daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
As the role includes responsibility for opening the premises and completing end-of-night lock-ups, applicants must be aged 18 or over and able to work confidently without constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing friendly and professional customer service
- Taking food and drink orders accurately
- Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
- Serving meals and clearing tables
- Opening and securely locking up the premises
- Handling cash and card payments
- Completing end-of-shift cashing-up procedures
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Following food hygiene, health and safety and licensing procedures
- Supporting functions, entertainment nights and busy events
- Dealing professionally with customer enquiries and concerns
- Refusing the sale of alcohol when required
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working in a busy bar, restaurant or hospitality venue
- Good knowledge of food, alcoholic drinks and bar service
- A good understanding of Scottish licensing laws and responsible alcohol service
- Experience of cash handling and cashing up
- Knowledge of food hygiene and workplace health and safety
- Basic first-aid knowledge
- The confidence to complete opening and lock-up duties
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A reliable, honest and professional approach
- The ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and public holidays
A Scottish Personal Licence and a current First Aid certificate would be advantageous but are not essential.
