The Taproom is a small, busy independent bar and kitchen on Bridge Street in St Ives. We are looking for a reliable Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join us for our Friday and Saturday night pizza service.
This is a hands-on kitchen role in a small team. No experience needed. If you have never worked in a kitchen before but you are keen, turn up on time and do not mind getting stuck in, we will teach you the rest.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Washing up - plates, pizza trays, pans and kitchen equipment - and keeping the wash-up area on top of itself through service
Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy as you go, and helping with the close-down clean at the end of the night
Helping in the pizza room at peak times: turning pizzas in the oven, cutting and boxing, getting them out to the pass
Basic prep jobs: portioning toppings, restocking the line, getting sections set up before service
Putting away deliveries and keeping the store areas in order
HOURS
Friday and Saturday evenings, roughly 6:00pm to 9:00pm or 10:00pm depending on how service runs
Around 6 to 10 hours a week, offered on a casual basis. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary with how busy we are
Extra shifts are often available on other days - we run pizza nights on Thursdays, the first Wednesday of the month and one Sunday a month - so there is more work there if you want it
Weekend availability is essential. If you cannot do Friday and Saturday nights, this one is not for you
WHAT WE ARE AFTER
Reliable and on time. This matters more than anything else on this list
Happy working at pace on a busy service without getting flustered
Clean and organised, and able to see the next job without being asked
A good attitude and a sense of humour - it is a small team and a long night without one
Able to get yourself to and from St Ives town centre for a late finish
Previous kitchen experience is a bonus but not required
