Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS)
Location: Fawley Refinery Project, Near Southampton, Hampshire
Pay Rate: £350 - £500 per day (Umbrella) – Depending on Experience
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: 03/08/2026
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major project at Fawley Refinery, near Southampton. This role will focus on overseeing the storage facility section of the project, working under a JCT contract.
Reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in managing the commercial delivery of the project, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining contractual compliance.
The position is primarily site-based, with some flexibility for remote working where appropriate. However, the successful candidate will be expected to spend the majority of their time on-site to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of the storage facility project from inception through to final account.
- Prepare and review cost plans, budgets, valuations, and forecasts.
- Administer and manage JCT contracts.
- Identify, value, and negotiate variations and change control.
- Procure and manage subcontractor packages.
- Prepare interim applications, payment certificates, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, identify commercial risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with the project delivery team to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Produce regular commercial reports for senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contract management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
