Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Vehicle Recovery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting and recovering vehicles, ensuring prompt and professional service. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle handling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate various types of recovery equipment, including flatbeds. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Safely operate recovery vehicles, including flatbed lorries, to retrieve and deliver vehicles.
- Respond promptly to recovery requests, often under time-sensitive conditions.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles before and after recovery to assess damage or issues.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor problems with recovered vehicles or recovery equipment.
- Communicate effectively with clients, dispatchers, and team members regarding vehicle status and recovery progress.
- Maintain accurate records of recoveries performed and vehicle details.
- Ensure all recovery operations comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in loading and securing vehicles onto recovery trucks using appropriate equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum class C1+E
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles, particularly flatbed lorries or recovery trucks.
- Delivery driver experience or warehouse experience is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to vehicle recovery operations.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members effectively.
- Experience with flatbed trucks or similar recovery equipment is preferred.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
