Pascoe International designs and builds award-winning Superyacht tenders to exceptionally high standards. As part of our continued development, we are looking for an experienced Composite Technician to join our Composites team.
Our Composite Technicians undertake a broad range of composite manufacturing and assembly activities across new-build semi-custom and full-custom vessels. The role covers everything from mould and material preparation through to infusion laminating, secondary bonding, component installation and final fitout. This is a varied hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of composite manufacturing and high-quality workmanship.
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and diligent individuals with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. Experience in infusion, secondary bonding and fitout is highly desirable, although candidates with a strong composites background who are willing to develop these skills will also be considered.
Role Purpose
To manufacture and assemble high-quality composite components, with a primary focus on infusion laminating, secondary bonding and fitout. The role includes dry lay-up, mould and material preparation, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, bonded assembly, trimming, drilling, component installation, finishing, inspection and production documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out dry lay-up and infusion laminating using epoxy resin systems, carbon fibre, glass fibre, core materials and other reinforcement materials.
- Prepare moulds, tooling, reinforcement packs, core kits and consumables, including release systems, ply orientation, laminate sequencing, peel ply, flow media and vacuum bagging materials.
- Read and follow drawings, laminate schedules, bonding procedures, fitout instructions and production specifications.
- Set up, leak-check and run resin infusion processes, including vacuum lines, resin feeds, catch pots, resin breaks, flow control and process monitoring.
- Monitor vacuum pressure, resin flow, temperature, resin usage and cure conditions, escalating process issues where required.
- Prepare bonded surfaces through trimming, drilling, sanding, cleaning, masking and controlled contamination prevention.
- Carry out secondary bonding using approved adhesives, fixtures, bond gaps, clamping methods and cure controls.
- Fitout composite components and assemblies, including dry fitting, alignment, drilling, fastening, bonding, sealing and final adjustment to drawing requirements.
- Inspect laminates, bonds and fitted assemblies for defects including voids, dry spots, wrinkles, delamination, contamination, poor bond lines, misalignment and dimensional inaccuracies.
- Maintain accurate production, traceability and quality records, including material batches, mix ratios, infusion parameters, adhesive details and inspection results.
Additional Skills
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Infusion laminating of carbon fibre, glass fibre and hybrid composite structures.
- Vacuum bagging, leak testing, resin-feed planning and infusion troubleshooting.
- Core materials, core bonding, inserts, local reinforcements and sandwich construction.
- Adhesive bonding, secondary bonding and bonded assembly preparation.
- Composite fitout, including trimming, drilling, alignment, fastening, sealing and finishing.
- Dimensional inspection using templates, jigs, fixtures or measuring equipment.
- Working with heated tooling, ovens, curing regimes or controlled production environments.
Quality Responsibilities
- Take ownership of workmanship and follow drawings, laminate schedules, infusion plans, bonding procedures and fitout instructions.
- Ensure materials, adhesives and consumables are correctly identified, stored, prepared and used within shelf-life and out-time requirements.
- Maintain accurate ply count, fibre orientation, core placement, overlap and laminate sequence.
- Check vacuum integrity before infusion and monitor resin flow, vacuum level, temperature and cure conditions.
- Inspect bond preparation, adhesive application, bond gaps, alignment and fitted assemblies before release to the next operation.
- Complete production, traceability and quality documentation accurately.
Health & Safety
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures, COSHH requirements and manufacturer safety instructions.
- Use suitable PPE and respiratory protection when handling fibres, resins, hardeners, solvents, adhesives and dust-producing processes.
- Handle epoxy systems safely to minimise skin exposure and sensitisation risks.
- Use cutting, trimming, sanding, extraction and manual-handling equipment safely.
- Store materials correctly, maintain good housekeeping and report hazards, spills or damaged equipment immediately.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in composite manufacturing, ideally with infusion laminating, dry lay-up or vacuum bagging processes.
- Experience setting up, leak-checking and monitoring resin infusion processes.
- Understanding of reinforcement materials, core materials, resin systems and laminate construction.
- Practical experience with secondary bonding, surface preparation, adhesive application or bonded assembly work.
- Ability to carry out composite fitout tasks such as trimming, drilling, aligning, fastening, sealing and finishing components.
- Ability to follow drawings, laminate schedules, bonding instructions and written work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and consistent, high-quality workmanship.
- Able to work cleanly and efficiently.
- Ability to identify laminate, bond and fitout defects and take appropriate corrective action.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a production team.

Candidates should demonstrate strong composite manufacturing principles, particularly accurate dry lay-up, vacuum bagging, safe epoxy resin handling and controlled bonding practice. Infusion, secondary bonding and fitout experience are highly desirable, but candidates with a solid composites background and a willingness to develop these skills will also be considered.
Hours of work
Monday - Thursday 10 hours per day
Pay: From £18.00 per hour
