Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth food preparation and service operations within our establishment. The successful candidate will assist with basic food preparation, cleaning duties, and supporting kitchen staff to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable culinary and hospitality experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables and preparing ingredients.
- Support chefs and kitchen staff with cooking and plating as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
- Ensure all work surfaces, floors, and equipment are kept hygienic and sanitised according to health and safety standards.
- Help with the organisation of stock and ingredients to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering food and clearing tables when needed.
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and safety procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary or hospitality sectors.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary.
