Role Overview
Electrical Trading Company Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Hire Controller to join our team at our Frodsham office. This person will be responsible for running the day-to-day hire operations of our electrical equipment hire service. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating equipment hire, maintaining accurate records, and delivering excellent customer service to our clients.
Our customers are generator hire companies. Our kit safely distributes the power their generators/batteries and solar pods generator to whatever is needed on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the hire process from initial enquiry through to return, using HireHop hire management software
- Process hire bookings, extensions, and off-hire requests promptly and accurately
- Liaise with customers by telephone and email to provide advice on suitable electrical equipment for their requirements
- Advise customers on the appropriate power supply requirements, including single phase (230V) and three phase (415V) systems
- Coordinate with the workshop and logistics teams to ensure equipment availability and timely delivery or collection
- Maintain accurate equipment records, including availability, service status, and location
- Raise hire agreements, invoices, and associated documentation in HireHop
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and damages in a professional and efficient manner
- Monitor and manage the hire fleet to maximise utilisation and identify equipment shortfalls
- Assist with stock checks and periodic audits of the hire fleet
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers
- Undertake general office administration tasks as required
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience in a hire control, equipment hire, or related customer-facing role
- Have an understanding of electrical distribution, for example familiar with single phase (230V) and three phase (415V) electrical systems, including common applications and power requirements
- Proficiency with hire management software — experience with HireHop is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Confident and professional telephone manner
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Desirable:
- Background in the electrical, construction, or plant hire sectors
- Experience with equipment logistics or fleet coordination
- Knowledge of current electrical safety regulations and equipment standards

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, office-based role located at our premises in Frodsham, Cheshire. Standard working hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required during peak periods.
