General Maintenance
- Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance tasks across the home.
- Fix minor faults including doors, furniture, fittings, fixtures, and general wear and tear.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management.
Decorating and Upkeep
- Undertake painting and decorating tasks as required to maintain a clean and homely environment.
- Ensure communal areas and resident rooms are kept in good decorative condition.
- Carry out touch-ups and refurbishment work as needed.
Carpentry and Repairs (Desirable Skill Area)
- Carry out basic carpentry tasks such as fixing doors, locks, shelving, and furniture repairs.
- Replace or repair damaged fixtures where appropriate.
- Carpentry skills are considered an advantage for this role.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Conduct and record routine safety checks, including fire doors, emergency lighting, and general hazards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and care home policies.
- Report any serious faults or risks to the Home Manager immediately.
Environment and Equipment
- Maintain safe condition of equipment, fittings, and communal areas.
- Ensure external areas (e.g. gardens, walkways) are safe and well maintained where required.
- Support contractors and external engineers during visits.
Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed, inspections, and repairs.
- Report completed and outstanding work to management in a timely manner.

- Previous experience in a maintenance or handyperson role
- Ability to carry out general repairs and basic maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good communication skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience in painting and decorating
- Carpentry skills (e.g. door repairs, basic woodwork, furniture repair)
- Experience working in a care home, healthcare, or similar environment

- May involve lifting, bending, and physical work
- Occasional urgent repairs required outside normal hours
