Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Early Years Practitioner to join our vibrant childcare team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the development and well-being of children within our nursery setting. Duties
- Lead and supervise a team of early years practitioners, ensuring high standards of childcare and education are maintained.
- Plan, organise, and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote children's development across all areas.
- Support children’s emotional, social, and physical development through individualised care plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children's progress and any concerns.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff members to promote professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organisational policies related to early childhood education.
- Contribute to the ongoing assessment and documentation of children's learning journeys.
Experience
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Extensive experience working directly with children in early years environments.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development stages, and childcare regulations.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Previous nursery experience is essential, with a solid understanding of best practices in early years care.

Qualifications & Person Specification - Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare or a recognised equivalent.
- A valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to complete one prior to employment).
- A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and safeguarding requirements.
Essential Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience working in an early years or nursery setting.
- Experience as a Senior Early Years Practitioner, Room Leader, Third in Charge, Deputy Room Leader, or a similar leadership role.
- Experience planning and delivering engaging activities that support children’s learning and development.
- Confident completing observations, assessments and learning journeys.
- Experience building strong, positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety procedures.
- Experience supporting or mentoring other members of staff.
