Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our residential care home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, including those living with dementia or requiring specialised senior care. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to care, ensuring activities are inclusive, stimulating, and tailored to individual needs.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Organise group events, outings, and individual activities that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and physical wellbeing
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment by engaging residents in meaningful conversations and personalised activities
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ interests and capabilities to tailor activities accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of participation and residents’ responses to activities for ongoing assessment and planning
- Encourage family involvement in activity planning where appropriate
- Monitor health and safety during activities, ensuring all equipment and materials are used safely
Requirements
- Experience working in assisted living environments, nursing homes or care homes specialising in senior or dementia care is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s care and dementia-friendly activity planning
- Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills to connect effectively with older adults
- Ability to organise engaging programmes that cater to diverse needs and interests
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing conditions and preferences
- A caring attitude combined with organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
