Job Summary
Operating out of our facility in Tiverton, MobiCode operates a growing e-commerce and logistics hub specializing in circular-economy technology, specialized product preparation, and online distribution. We are seeking a proactive, mechanically minded Equipment Technician & Light Machinery Operative to join our small, focused team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for operating, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining a variety of light benchtop machinery and precision finishing tools. You do not need formal engineering degrees, but you must have great practical dexterity, strong hand-eye coordination, and a natural comfort working with physical tools and mechanical setups to ensure smooth operations and high-quality output.
Responsibilities
- Light Machinery Operation: Safely and efficiently operate benchtop mechanical equipment, finishing/polishing wheels, laser-cutting/etching tools, and specialized processing machinery.
- Calibration & Equipment Setup: Align, calibrate, and set up mechanical equipment according to technical manuals, video guides, and operational guidelines.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine cleaning, basic maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting across site tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Quality Control & Finishing: Demonstrate high physical attention to detail to ensure processed items meet exact alignment, cosmetic, and quality standards.
- Materials & Workshop Handling: Handle materials safely within the workshop and warehouse environment, including inventory intake, product prep, and organizing supplies.
- Team & Process Support: Work collaboratively alongside team members, occasionally guiding or demonstrating to colleagues how to operate specific equipment safely.
Skills
- Practical & Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on mechanical skills with natural comfort using physical tools, benchtop machinery, or precision DIY setups (e.g., flat-pack assembly or mechanical tinkering).
- High Physical Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and patience when performing detailed alignment and finishing work.
- Instruction & Manual Following: Ability to read user guides, follow technical video tutorials, and execute mechanical setups accurately.
- Basic Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to spot when tools or machinery need basic adjustment, cleaning, or maintenance.
- Warehouse & Materials Handling: Familiarity with basic warehouse environments, stock handling, and materials organization.
- Safety & Reliability: Strong commitment to safety protocols, punctuality, and taking pride in producing neat, accurate, high-quality work.
Qualifications / Desirable Experience
- Previous experience operating benchtop tools, workshop equipment, light manufacturing machinery, or laser/finishing tools is a bonus (full on-the-job training provided).
- Basic familiarity with general workshop safety standards and equipment maintenance routines.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative team setting.
Pay: £26,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
