Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursery Nurse to join our early childhood education team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to young children, fostering their development in a safe and nurturing environment. From September, our nursery will be expanding its services to include Flying Start, providing enhanced support and early learning opportunities for eligible children and families. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of this provision, working closely with colleagues, children, and families to ensure the highest standards of care, learning, and early intervention support. Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children in the nursery setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Support children’s individual needs through personalised care plans and attentive supervision.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages learning through play and exploration.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, behaviour, and developmental milestones.
- Collaborate with colleagues to organise daily routines, including meal times, naps, and outdoor activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including hygiene standards and safeguarding policies.
- Contribute to the organisation of nursery events and parent meetings as required.
- Support the implementation and delivery of the nursery's Flying Start provision from September, working in partnership with children, families, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes and school readiness.
- Contribute to early intervention activities and family engagement initiatives associated with the Flying Start programme.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
- Strong management skills with the ability to organise activities and oversee children's routines effectively.
- Leadership qualities to guide junior staff or volunteers when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to liaise confidently with children, parents, and team members.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach towards young children.
- Competence in managing behavioural issues sensitively and professionally.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
