Start Your Career in a Specialist Industry
Looking for more than just another admin job?
Maybe you're already working in customer service, retail, hospitality or a general office role and you're ready for something with more responsibility, more to learn and a genuine opportunity to build a career.
At Blue A, we're looking for someone bright, organised and ambitious to join our asbestos surveying team as an Asbestos Report Writer & Office Administrator.
You don't need to know anything about asbestos to apply. We'll teach you. What we're looking for is someone with a sharp eye for detail, good communication skills and the drive to become really good at what they do.
A Proper Career, Not Just an Admin Job
Asbestos surveying is a specialist, highly regulated industry, and there's a lot to learn.
You'll work alongside experienced asbestos surveyors and our wider operations team, gradually developing an understanding of different types of asbestos surveys, building materials, terminology, regulations and how professional survey reports are produced.
You'll also learn to use TEAMS, specialist asbestos surveying and reporting software used within the industry.
As your knowledge develops, so will your confidence and responsibilities.
You'll become an important link between our surveyors in the field, our clients and the office team - making sure the information collected on site is transformed into accurate, professional reports and delivered to our clients.
For someone who wants to learn and progress, this is an opportunity to develop a genuine specialist skillset rather than remain in general administration.
What Will You Actually Be Doing?
No two days are exactly the same. Our surveyors spend their days visiting properties and collecting detailed information about buildings and potential asbestos-containing materials. Once that information reaches the office, you help turn it into the finished product our client receives.
You'll:
- Produce professional asbestos survey reports using our specialist TEAMS software.
- Review survey information, photographs and site notes.
- Spot missing or inconsistent information and speak directly with surveyors to get it resolved.
- Make sure every report is accurate, complete and professionally presented before it reaches the client.
- Speak with customers and keep them updated.
- Book surveys and coordinate appointments.
- Help organise surveyors' diaries and workloads.
- Manage job information and documentation.
- Support the wider surveying team with the day-to-day running of the department.
Over time, you'll develop the knowledge to understand what you're looking at rather than simply processing information. That's an important distinction.
You Don't Need Asbestos Experience
Seriously. If you've worked in asbestos, construction, property or surveying before, that's fantastic - but it's not a requirement. We can teach you the technical side. What is much harder to teach is the right attitude.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is naturally organised and notices the small details.
- Takes pride in getting things right.
- Communicates confidently and professionally.
- Enjoys learning new things.
- Is comfortable using computers and learning new software.
- Can manage several things at once without losing track.
- Isn't afraid to pick up the phone and speak to customers.
- Will ask questions when something doesn't make sense.
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be chased.
- Wants to develop and become genuinely good at their job.
Previous office, administration or customer-service experience would be useful, but attitude, ability and willingness to learn matter enormously to us.
Where Can This Role Take You?
We hire people for the long term. As your knowledge and confidence grow, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility within the surveying and wider business-support operation.
Whether your strengths ultimately lie in reporting, surveying administration, project coordination, operations, client management or another area of the business, we want people who are interested in developing with us.
Blue A continues to grow, and we want our people to grow with it.
