PMLD Teaching Assistant – Full Time – St Austell – June 1st Start
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in St Austell on a full-time contracted basis starting 1st June.
This rewarding opportunity involves supporting students aged 4–19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a wide range of additional needs within a supportive and nurturing environment.
The Role
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support learning and development
- Assist students with communication, engagement and emotional regulation
- Provide personal care where required
- Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support students with complex needs throughout the school day
Student Needs May Include
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down Syndrome
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADD / ADHD
- PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance)
- Complex communication and sensory needs
Requirements
- Previous school-based experience is essential
- SEN experience is highly desirable
- A patient, caring and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Comfortable supporting students with complex and additional needs
- DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Experience within SEN schools, care settings, support work or youth work would be advantageous.
