Registered Manager – Children’s Residential HomeSalary: £28000-33000 per year (depending on experience)Full-time Position
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead and develop our new children’s residential home, providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new service from the beginning and play a key role in building a high-quality children’s home that makes a positive difference in young people’s lives.
Role Responsibilities:
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the children’s home
- Ensure the home meets all Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Promote excellent safeguarding practice and ensure children’s safety and wellbeing
- Develop and maintain effective policies, procedures, risk assessments and care planning systems
- Lead, support and supervise residential care staff
- Participate in recruitment, induction and training of staff
- Manage incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Work closely with local authorities, social workers and other professionals
- Monitor the quality of care provided and continuously improve the service
- Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and regulatory requirements
Pre-Opening Responsibilities:
As this is a new children’s home, the Registered Manager will support the development and registration process, including:
- Preparing documentation required for Ofsted registration
- Developing the Statement of Purpose
- Creating operational procedures and recording systems
- Supporting recruitment and training plans
- Ensuring the home is ready to provide high-quality care
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in children’s residential care
- Experience in a senior or management role within residential childcare
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
- Level 3 Safeguarding Children training
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and children’s rights
- Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted requirements
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
Desirable:
- Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections
- Experience supporting children with complex needs, autism, trauma or challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of care planning and placement matching
