Job Description – Interceptor Removal (Wastewater Industry)
Job Title - Ganger
Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Ganger to join our wastewater operations team. The successful candidate will lead a small site team carrying out the removal of interceptor traps and the installation of straight pipe replacements within the wastewater network. The role requires a strong commitment to health and safety, quality workmanship, and effective communication while working in confined spaces and on public highways and private properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely remove existing interceptor traps and install straight pipe replacements in accordance with project specifications.
- Ensure all work is completed to company procedures, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Carry out and oversee confined space operations safely and efficiently.
- Set up and maintain safe work sites, including traffic management where required.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Complete site documentation accurately and complete job information using electronic devices and company software.
- Take and upload site photographs to record step by step to completed works.
- Liaise professionally with clients, the public, and other stakeholders when required.
- Report site progress, issues, and any safety concerns to site supervisor/management.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Confined Space Certification.
- NRSWA (Street Works) Qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Competent in using smartphones, tablets, and electronic job management systems.
- Ability to accurately complete digital job records and upload photographs.
- Experience working within the wastewater, drainage, or civil engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of safe working practices.
Desirable Qualifications
- First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid qualification.
- Abrasive wheels certificate
- Relevant industry certifications.
