Job Introduction
Join us in keeping Lancaster and surrounding districts clean, safe, and sustainable. As a Waste Collection Driver, you’ll play a vital role in promoting recycling, supporting community safety, and helping the council meet its climate emergency goals. Your work ensures residents receive a reliable, professional service that makes a real impact on the environment and local quality of life.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll safely drive council vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes to deliver and collect waste containers, recyclables, and medical waste. Operating equipment like bin lifters, you’ll maintain vehicle roadworthiness, report issues, and communicate clearly with residents and colleagues. Your role includes physically loading materials, advising on waste separation, and working flexibly on a rota that includes weekends and public holidays.
You’ll Fit Right In If…
You hold a full, clean UK driving licence with Category C1 and a current CPC card. You’re physically fit, safety-conscious, and have good knowledge of the local area. Your strong communication skills and commitment to working together, taking ownership, and showing pride in your work will help you thrive in our ambitious, community-focused team.
