Job Summary
We are a family business and are seeking a reliable and skilled HGV1 Truck Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to operate various types of vehicles, including flatbed and van lorries. This is a tramping role.
Duties
- Drive lorries to deliver goods to designated locations, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
- Operate flatbed and van lorries, ensuring proper loading and unloading of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working order, reporting any mechanical issues as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while on the road.
- Assist with warehouse duties as needed, including loading and unloading products.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving licence (C+E) with a clean driving record.
- Experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to identify basic vehicle issues and perform minor repairs if necessary.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients.
- Previous experience in flatbed or curtain siders is an advantage.
- Must be physically fit to handle the demands of loading and unloading cargo.
