JOB DESCRIPTION
Holbeach Medical Centre is a friendly rural dispensing practice with 7900 patient population located at the centre of Holbeach Town. We use systmone and offer a wide range of services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with great attention to detail to join our team. 16 hours per week, during our core opening times of 07.30 - 18.30
DISPENSER
Responsible to: The Dispensary Manager
Main purpose of post: To dispense effectively for the registered population.
Hours of work: 16 hours per week, over 4 days
SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES:
The post-holder will project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way.
Assist in the preparation, dispensing of prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.
To be solely responsible for the running of the dispensary and any junior staff when required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions
· Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements
· Operation of efficient stock control, minimising wastage
· Preparation of dosset boxes
· Ensuring that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner.
· Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the Dispensary Manager.
· Dealing with queries from patients regarding their prescriptions.
· Handling controlled drugs (and keeping register).
· Handling prescription money.
· Providing cover for annual leave/sickness.
CONFIDENTIALITY
· In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
· The post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential

The post-holder will:
· Apply practice policies, standards and guidance
· Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work
· Participate in audits where appropriate
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
· NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills
· Proficient computer and keyboard skills
· GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
· Knowledge of confidentiality and its application
· Be able to work calmly under pressure in a busy working environment
· Able to communicate clearly and precisely (oral and written), and where there may be barriers to understanding
· Ability to work for long periods without sitting down.
Desirable Criteria:
· NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills
· Knowledge/experience of Systm1
· Experience of working within healthcare/General Practice
· Full driving licence and own transport
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.10-£13.21 per hour
