OOverview:
We are seeking a practical and motivated Agricultural Farmhand to support day-to-day operations on a mixed-use farm. This role requires a hands-on individual with proven experience in timber construction, animal care, and beekeeping, contributing to the efficient running and development of the farm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with general farm duties including maintenance, cleaning, and seasonal tasks
- Construct, repair, and maintain timber agricultural structures (e.g. barns, fencing, shelters, storage units)
- Carry out routine animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, health checks, bedding, and welfare management for livestock
- Support apiculture operations, including hive management, inspection, honey harvesting, and equipment upkeep
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and tools safely and effectively
- Support land management activities such as fencing, pasture maintenance, and crop-related tasks
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and animal welfare regulations
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in timber building construction
- Proven experience in animal husbandry across common farm livestock (e.g. poultry, goats, sheep)
- Practical experience in apiculture (beekeeping)
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
Desirable Skills:
- Basic mechanical skills for machinery maintenance
- Knowledge of sustainable or smallholding farming practices
- First aid or agricultural qualifications
