Assistant Cook – 30 Hours Per Week
Working 5 days out of 7
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Cook to join our friendly team within our busy Independent Living Restaurant.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for food, strong culinary and craft skills, and the ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team. You will play an important role in delivering fresh, high-quality meals and helping to create varied and appealing menus for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation and service of breakfast and lunch
- Supporting with menu planning and developing creative, varied menus
- Ordering and receiving stock
- Ensuring correct stock rotation and storage
- Checking and managing deliveries
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness and presentation
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
- Working effectively as part of a team while also being confident working independently
About You
You will ideally have:
- Previous professional cooking experience
- An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Food Preparation/Catering (essential)
- Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene qualification (beneficial)
- Strong practical/craft skills and excellent culinary ability
- A creative approach to menu planning
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm and effective in a busy kitchen environment
- A positive attitude and a commitment to providing excellent food and service
Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7
A DBS check will be required upon commencement of employment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £13.00 per hour
