We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Administrator to join our team at Externiture on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in manufacturing or quality who wants to get stuck into a varied and meaningful role in a fast-growing business.
About Us
Externiture is a leading UK designer, manufacturer, and installer of public transport infrastructure — think bus shelters, cycle shelters, and civil engineering works right across the country. Based in Thatcham, Berkshire, we've grown by 200% in the last three years and we're not slowing down. We're proud to be a People, Process and Armed Forces Covenant employer, and we're committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
This role also involves working closely with our in-house fabrication facility, TMF Engineering, which produces precision-engineered metalwork components for sectors including public transport, defence, and medical services.
The Role
You'll be providing quality administration and inspection support during a period of planned absence, helping to keep things running smoothly. Day to day, you'll be:
- Carrying out product inspections and quality checks at key stages of production, and escalating any non-conformances
- Using measuring equipment including vernier callipers, micrometres, bore gauges, depth gauges, height gauges, and dial indicators to check components against technical drawings
- Maintaining quality records, inspection logs, and filing documentation in line with our quality management system (QMS)
- Logging quality metrics data such as Right First Time (RFT), scrap, and rework figures
- Collating and filing non-conformance reports (NCRs) and concession reports
- Liaising with our TMF Engineering facility and design department to feed back inspection results
- Providing administrative support for internal and supplier audits
- Supporting the team with general quality administration as needed
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience in a quality, manufacturing, or administrative environment
- Confident using precision measuring tools and interpreting technical drawings
- Good attention to detail and able to follow established processes accurately
- Comfortable recording and maintaining data, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- A good communicator who works well as part of a team
- Happy working in a production/manufacturing environment
Desirable:
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001
- Basic understanding of quality terminology (RFT, non-conformance, SOP)
- Experience using data tracking or reporting tools
Please note that as this is a temporary position, company benefits do not apply.
If this sounds like the right fit, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now with your CV and a brief note about your quality or manufacturing experience.
