The Driver is responsible for safely transporting care staff to and from clients' homes, ensuring carers arrive on time to deliver high-quality care. The role supports the smooth running of care services by providing reliable, professional, and courteous transport while maintaining high standards of safety and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport care staff safely and punctually between clients' homes according to the daily schedule.
- Plan efficient routes to minimise travel time while ensuring timely arrivals.
- Communicate with the Care Coordinator regarding schedules, delays, or changes.
- Assist carers with loading and unloading any necessary equipment or supplies.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and roadworthiness of the company vehicle.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all road traffic laws and company driving policies.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, staff, and company information.
- Provide a professional, friendly, and respectful service at all times.
- Keep accurate records of journeys, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle inspections where required.
- Support emergency transport requests when operationally necessary.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Full UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Previous professional driving experience.
- Excellent knowledge of local roads and navigation systems.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and well organised.
- Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays where required.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
