Whitehall Garden Centre is a family run and award winning business. An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an inspirational team as a Temporary Handy Man / Driver’s Mate at our Lacock Garden Centre.
The ideal candidate will be practical, reliable and hardworking, with a flexible approach and a willingness to get involved in a variety of tasks. Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential. This is a full time position.
Temporary Handy Man / Driver’s Mate responsibilities;
· Assisting with deliveries and collections
· Loading and unloading vehicles safely
· Assisting the driver with deliveries to customers and other locations
· Moving furniture, stock, equipment and other items as required
· Carrying out general handyman and basic maintenance tasks
· Assisting with assembling shelving and other equipment including display equipment
· General garden, grounds and outdoor maintenance
· General shop, warehouse and garden centre maintenance and housekeeping
· Helping to keep storage areas, work areas and vehicles clean and tidy
· Assisting other departments with moving stock and general tasks when required
· Reporting any maintenance issues, damage or hazards to the appropriate manager
· Working safely and following all health and safety procedures
· Be able to work as part of a team as well as on your own
· Work in other departments of the garden centre if requested
This role will include manual lifting, loading and unloading, so the successful candidate must be physically capable of carrying out these duties safely.
A full UK driving licence is preferred. Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, delivery, warehouse or similar role would be advantageous, although full training will be provided where required.
