Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Cafe Assistant/Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This role involves overseeing daily café operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a background in food preparation, and experience in hospitality environments such as restaurants or hotels. The position offers an opportunity to develop managerial skills while working in a vibrant, fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the café team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service
- Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages, including coffee, snacks, and light meals, adhering to food safety standards
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring quality control and efficient utilisation of ingredients
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding hospitality, serving customers with professionalism and warmth
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and maintain cleanliness and organisation within the café area
- Train new staff members on food preparation, serving techniques, health & safety protocols, and customer service standards
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve any issues promptly to ensure satisfaction
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and motivate team members to achieve their best
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality roles such as restaurant or hotel work
- Demonstrable supervising or team management experience within a café or similar environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production and service
- Skills in culinary arts or kitchen experience are highly desirable
- Barista experience is advantageous but not essential
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the café setting
