Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Nursery Cook to join our team! In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children, ensuring food safety standards are met at all times. Your culinary skills will help create a positive mealtime experience, contributing to the overall well-being and happiness of the children in our care.
Hours are flexible between 10am and 2pm. A term time only contract is optional also.
Duties
- Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals suitable for preschool-aged children in accordance with dietary guidelines
- Follow food safety procedures to maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen
- Plan menus that incorporate variety and nutritional value, considering any allergies or special dietary needs
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas
- Assist with serving meals and snacks to children in a friendly and efficient manner
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Collaborate with staff to ensure meal times run smoothly and promote positive eating habits
Qualifications
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles, preferably within a childcare or similar setting is beneficial but not neccessary
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene- training will be provided
- Ability to handle food safely from preparation through serving
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in meal planning and kitchen maintenance
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff and support children's needs

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 20.0 per week
