Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness of the kitchen and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in preparation and storage areas at all times.
- Complete all online food ordering and communicate any cleaning and catering equipment requirements to the Nursery Manager.
- Ensure that food ordering is kept within nursery budget, portion control is well managed and food wastage is minimised.
- Assist with preparing the nursery menus, which should be updated according to season and provide a balanced and varied diet for the children.
- Keep records of food served, cleaning done, fridge and freezer and food temperatures and be conversant and up to date with the current Health & Safety regulations / legislation relating to food hygiene in the kitchen.
- Prepare all snacks and lunches on schedule for the designated serving times.
- Ensure that all food is prepared and ready for tea times before leaving for the day.
- Be aware of and ensure that the dietary requirements of all children are understood, and meals prepared in accordance with these.
- Cook all food from fresh and in line with the nursery nutrition policy and procedures.
- Be aware of and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Food hygiene certificate (paid for by the nursery)
- Willing to undertake relevant training where required.
If you are successful with your application, you will be required to complete a DBS Enhanced Application or present a current DBS Certificate that has been registered to the DBS Subscription Update Service.
Pay: Up to £12.80 per hour
