Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time Mental Health Promotion Outreach Worker to join our team. In this vital role, you will actively engage with communities to promote mental health awareness, prevention and early intervention, and foster supportive environments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver brief mental health interventions using motivational interviewing approaches and support individuals to access appropriate LWNA services, including Talking Therapies.
- Work collaboratively with LWNA partners to improve referral pathways, address barriers to access, and strengthen community support.
- Engage with stakeholders through regular meetings, sharing progress, identifying solutions, and contributing ideas to improve service delivery.
- Promote positive mental health and wellbeing through conversations with the public, including outreach via the Lambeth Health & Wellbeing Bus, and encourage access to support services such as Lambeth Talking Therapies.
- Gather and share community insight, including engagement data, demographics and wellbeing needs, to inform improvements to mental health services across Lambeth.
- Contribute to public mental health initiatives and attend relevant LWNA forums, operational groups and partnership meetings.
Experience
- 2 years minimum in community mental health, health promotion, public health or community engagement.
Essential Skills
- Good understanding of mental health promotion, prevention, health inequalities and the social determinants of health.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and active listening skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, risk identification and appropriate escalation.
- Strong organisational, time management and analytical skills, with the ability to identify emerging themes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Competent in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and build effective working relationships.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of facilitating groups, delivering presentations or training.
- Strong networking, partnership-building and project planning skills.
- Ability to analyse, present and report data, including impact reports and case studies.
- Experience using social media for community engagement
- Experience using CRM/case management systems.
- Understanding of asset-based community development and multidisciplinary working.
- Confidence engaging with diverse communities in informal settings.
- Ability to speak a community language relevant to the local population.
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) qualification.
