The job in a nutshell:
The Demand Planner plays a pivotal role in bridging customer requirements with manufacturing capability at Colorlites. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role is responsible for translating new client orders into accurate, deliverable production schedules, from item code creation through to finished-goods despatch. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, organised under pressure and proactive in resolving issues as they arise on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities:
System and data setup:
- Create and maintain accurate item codes, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Ensure all master data is correctly structured to support production, purchasing and stock control activities.
Order processing and scheduling:
- Process new orders received from the Business Relationship (BR) team in a timely and accurate manner.
- Create Sales Orders and schedule corresponding Production Orders to align with capacity, lead times and customer expectations.
- Place Purchase Orders for free-issue and bespoke materials required to fulfil client orders.
Stock and componentry management:
- Take ownership of client-based componentry levels, ensuring sufficient stock is available to meet planned production.
- Monitor and manage stock holdings to minimise shortages, obsolescence and excess inventory.
Production oversight and communication:
- Follow orders through the factory, acting as the primary point of contact for any production or supply issues.
- Provide regular, clear updates to the Business Relationship team regarding order status, lead-time changes or risks.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Procurement and Quality teams to keep orders on track.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Essential:
- Strong computer literacy with confident use of the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data and process.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise across departments.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP system.
- Background in a manufacturing, FMCG or contract production environment.
- Familiarity with item code structures, BOMs and production routings.
Qualities and attributes:
- Team player who enjoys working collaboratively and supporting colleagues.
- Self-motivated and proactive, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Resilient and composed when working under pressure or to tight deadlines.
- Curious mindset, keen to understand processes end-to-end and identify improvements.
What this role offers:
- Salary: £37,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience)
- Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hrs/week
- Location: Chichester, West Sussex (On-site)
