Manual / CNC Vertical Borer Setter / Operator
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
Salary: Up to £20 per hour for CNC Programmers, up to £17 per hour for Manual Setters
Shifts Available: Days & Nights
Hours:
- Permanent day shift or permanent night shift
- Day shift: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm, and Friday 8am to 1pm, OT expected
- Night shift: Monday to Thursday 6pm to 6am, OT available Friday after 1pm and weekend

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit experienced Manual and CNC Vertical Borer Setter / Operators to join their team.
Manual Vertical Borer Setter / Operator
The Role:
You will be responsible for setting and operating manual vertical boring machines to produce medium to heavy engineered components in line with customer drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and operate manual vertical boring machines.
- Machine medium to heavy workpieces accurately and efficiently.
- Work from customer-issued engineering drawings and specifications.
- Carry out self-inspection using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Work safely and efficiently within a busy engineering environment.
- Complete overtime when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience setting and operating manual vertical boring machines.
- Alternatively, candidates with a strong turning background will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working with medium to heavy components.
- Confident carrying out self-inspection.
- Reliable, flexible and quality focused.
CNC Vertical Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer
The Role:
You will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC Vertical Boring/Lathe machines, producing medium to heavy engineered components to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set, operate and programme CNC Vertical Boring/Lathe machines.
- Programme using Fanuc control systems.
- Utilise CIMCO CAD/CAM or Fusion software for programming where required.
- Manufacture components from engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Carry out self-inspection to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Work accurately to tight tolerances.
- Complete overtime when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience setting, operating and programming CNC Vertical Boring/Lathe machines.
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls.
- Experience with CIMCO CAD/CAM or Fusion software would be advantageous.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience machining medium to heavy components.
- Competent using manual measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
