Pet Crematorium and Cemetery Operator
You may not have considered this type of work before but this is a varied and rewarding position giving you a chance to use your skills to make a difference to people by helping them with their loss. We are looking for someone who would like to work weekends with Tuesday and Wednesday off each week.
Skills :
Have a good appearance and polite manner and be confident in dealing with people who may be in a distressed state.
Be able to work independently and have a high level of self-discipline in order to carry out all aspects of the work to the same high standards of care and respect every time.
Be fit and in good health as some heavy manual lifting will be required. The work involves being on your feet all day and can get very hot during the summer months.
Have a clean driving licence. Be a confident driver able to handle medium wheel base transit vans.
Work:
Ensuring that all pets carry the correct identification forms. Checking the clients' requirements
Handling pets in a respectful manner at all times
Placing pets into the cremator. Recording the cremation log details,
Attending while cremations take place. Operation of the cremation machinery
Clearing and sweeping the chamber on completion
Preparing the ashes for packing.
Maintaining cleanliness of the crematorium and mortuaries.
Checking pets after collection to ensure paperwork intact and all pets identified.
Collections of pets from homes and veterinary surgeries. This may involve different hours during holiday times to cover for our regular collection staff
Assisting with work in the cemetery and burials as needed.
Other duties may include office work or assisting in the workshop and will be dependent on individual skills.
40 hours per week 9.30am - 6pm, Thursday to Monday with 30 minutes lunch
32 days leave per annum which includes bank holidays. Leave is accrued on the basis of hours worked.
Full-time, permanent position. Salary £29,000-£31,000 payable weekly or monthly
