About the opportunity
Tiptree Medical Centre is seeking an exceptional Business & Operations Manager to lead and manage our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the GP Partners in leading a successful, forward-thinking medical centre that is committed to delivering outstanding patient care while continually improving the way we work. Our two GP Partners are married and so decision-making is quick, efficient and mutual.
We are a forward-thinking practice caring for circa 12,500 patients with a strong reputation for high-quality patient care and a team that genuinely enjoys working together. We’re proud of what we have achieved but we’re equally ambitious about what comes next. That’s where you come in.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across every non-clinical aspect of the medical centre. We are looking for someone who is approachable, collaborative and confident in leading change, developing people and delivering high-quality services. Whether your experience has been gained within primary care, the NHS or another complex operational environment, we are interested in leaders who can bring energy, professionalism and fresh ideas.

Governance: CQC Registered Manager; Regulatory compliance; Risk register; Business continuity; Information Governance; Health & Safety; Organisational safeguarding; Governance meetings; Significant Event and Learning Event analysis; Clinical policies; Standard Operating Procedures.
Finance: Budget ownership; Financial forecasting; Payroll oversight; Enhanced Services (EA/DES/LES); Investment planning and funding opportunities.
Workforce: Recruitment; Workforce planning; Senior team appraisals; HR strategy; Training strategy; HR document compliance; Workflow efficiencies and continuous improvement.
Estates: Estate management; Contractor management; Premises security; Estate development projects.
Digital: IT strategy; Telephone systems; Digital transformation and technology-enabled service improvement.
About you
You will be an experienced leader with excellent organisational, financial and people-management skills. You will enjoy building relationships, solving problems and creating an environment where staff can thrive. Experience within general practice or the NHS would be advantageous, but we also welcome applications from candidates with strong transferable leadership and operational management experience.
What matters most is your ability to:
· Lead with integrity and empathy
· Build high-performing teams
· Think strategically while remaining grounded in day-to-day operations
· Communicate with confidence and authenticity
· Manage change positively and effectively
· Make sound decisions in a busy and evolving environment
What we offer
· Competitive salary dependent on experience
· NHS Pension Scheme
· A family-friendly environment
· Professional development and training
· Supportive GP Partners
· A genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of a highly regarded practice
