Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional service. The ideal candidate will be proactive, hardworking, and eager to develop their skills within the hospitality industry. Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support the kitchen team
- Ensure all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitised according to health and safety standards
- Help with the organisation and storage of ingredients and supplies
- Support chefs during busy service periods by providing necessary assistance
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout shifts
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed
- Assist with receiving deliveries and storing stock appropriately
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to uphold a safe working environment
Skills
- Basic understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques is desirable but not mandatory
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is a plus
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and health & safety procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the hospitality sector
