We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing design team. This role is well suited to a graduate or early-career engineer with some mechanical design experience who is keen to develop their skills, learn from experienced colleagues, and contribute to real engineering projects. You will support the design and development of mechanical assemblies, gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, and work on technically interesting systems where quality, accuracy, and safety are important.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the mechanical design of ride systems, gating systems and specialist attraction equipment from concept through to production release.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings to high‑precision standards (SolidWorks preferred).
- Apply engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design-for-manufacture principles to ensure robust, safe and compliant designs.
- Work closely with fabrication, machining, electrical and installation teams to ensure seamless integration and build quality.
- Support prototype development, testing and validation within our on‑site facilities.
- Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical input to refurbishment and upgrade projects for existing ride systems.
- Liaise with project team and clients to translate creative concepts into engineered solutions.
About You
- 1-2 years experience in mechanical design or CAD Technician, ideally within machinery, automation, special-purpose equipment, or other safety‑critical systems.
- 1 year+ Experience in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Confident producing detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
- Basic understanding of fabrication, machining, welding and assembly processes.
- Practical, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving capability.
- Good communication skills and the ability to engage with internal teams.
