Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and dedicated Out-of-Hours/Night-Shift Qualified Interpreters to provide vital language support during non-standard hours. In this dynamic role, you will facilitate clear and accurate communication between service providers and diverse communities, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder access to essential services. Your expertise will help bridge cultural gaps and promote inclusivity during night shifts and out-of-hours periods, making a meaningful difference in people's lives through your linguistic skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality interpretation services across a variety of settings, including healthcare, legal, social services, and emergency situations during night shifts and out-of-hours periods.
- Accurately translate spoken language from English to the target language(s) and vice versa, ensuring clarity and cultural appropriateness.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, adhering to data protection policies and ethical standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients, service providers, and team members using excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Utilize translation tools and maintain accurate records of interpreted sessions for documentation purposes.
- Respond promptly to urgent requests for interpretation, demonstrating flexibility and resilience during high-pressure situations.
- Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on language needs or service gaps to enhance overall program quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a qualified interpreter with proficiency in Kurdish (Sorani/Badini dialects), Bengali, Romanian, or Somali.
- Bilingual skills in English and at least one of the target languages listed above; additional multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey messages accurately across languages and cultures.
- Excellent listening skills combined with fast typing ability for note-taking or documentation purposes.
- Availability to work during night shifts or out-of-hours periods, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in interpretation or translation are highly desirable.

Pay: £17.00-£17.50 per hour
