Location: London, UK (On-site)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help us design, scale, and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure.
In this role, you will work closely with our software engineering and security teams to build resilient multi-region environments, optimize infrastructure costs, and refine our deployment pipelines. You will take ownership of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules and act as a senior technical guide across the engineering group.
What You’ll Do
- Write, review, and maintain production-grade Terraform modules to manage core AWS services, including EKS, RDS, VPCs, IAM, and Lambda.
- Improve existing continuous delivery pipelines in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI to ensure fast, reliable, and secure deployments.
- Monitor cluster health, troubleshoot high-priority incidents, and maintain SLOs across our microservices architecture.
- Partner with security engineers to implement zero-trust access controls, manage secret rotation, and keep infrastructure compliant with UK/EU standards.
- Track cloud expenses using FinOps best practices, identify over-provisioned resources, and manage telemetry using Datadog or Prometheus/Grafana.
- Conduct technical design reviews and support mid-level engineers through regular code reviews and pair programming.
Key Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with strong proficiency in AWS.
- Strong experience modularizing infrastructure and managing state safely in multi-account AWS environments using Terraform.
- Practical experience operating Kubernetes (EKS) in production, including Helm, ingress controllers, and cluster autoscaling.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for automation and writing custom tooling.
- Solid grasp of VPC architecture, DNS, load balancing, security groups, and IAM policies.
- Existing legal authorization to work in the UK (we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role at this time).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-cloud setups or hybrid cloud connectivity (AWS Direct Connect / VPN).
- Knowledge of FinOps tools like Kubecost or AWS Cost Explorer.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary dependent on experience with an annual performance-based bonus (up to 10-15%).
- Full-time, on-site environment based in our Central London office.
- 8% employer pension contribution.
- 28 days paid annual leave + public holidays.
- £1,000 annual learning & development budget.
- Enhanced parental leave and cycle-to-work scheme.
