At Leeds Bradford Airport, effective management of capital investment is essential to delivering the infrastructure that supports our growth and future ambitions. As Commercial & Management Accountant, you will take ownership of the accounting, forecasting and commercial financial analysis of capital expenditure and associated operating costs, ensuring investment decisions are supported by accurate financial insight and robust financial control.
You'll be joining one of the UK's fastest-growing regional airports, committed to employing high-quality people who share our dedication to excellent service. Living our values to Be the Best, Work as One Team, and Do the Right Thing, you will help ensure major capital projects and operational investments are underpinned by reliable financial information, supporting the airport's continued development and long-term success.
What your Day-to-Day will Feel Like
In this role, around 75% of your time will be focused on managing the financial oversight of the airport's capital investment programme. You will take ownership of the accounting, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis of capital expenditure and associated operating costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting throughout the lifecycle of projects. You'll maintain the fixed asset register, oversee capitalisation of completed projects, prepare cashflow forecasts and provide insightful variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
You'll work closely with project managers, operational teams, and senior stakeholders, providing financial challenge and support to ensure projects remain aligned with budgets and strategic objectives. You'll also play a key role in maintaining robust financial controls, identifying opportunities to improve processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements.
The remaining 25% of the role will involve acting as a Financial Business Partner while taking ownership of the month-end accounting and reporting for your cost areas. In this capacity, you'll work alongside budget holders, the Executive Team and wider finance colleagues to prepare month-end accounting activities, support the development of business cases, five-year plans, budgets and forecasts, and ensure accurate financial reporting. You'll provide meaningful financial insight that enables effective cost management, supports strategic investment decisions, and helps deliver the airport's ambitious growth plans.
