Overview
We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety standards. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on heavy goods vehicles, including lorries and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Utilise fabrication, welding, soldering, and schematics to troubleshoot complex issues effectively
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out assembly, repair, and modification work
- Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical wiring
- Maintain detailed records of all work undertaken in accordance with company procedures
- Assist with the realignment of vehicle systems using schematics and technical manuals
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair findings clearly and efficiently
Experience
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, electrical systems, schematics, and mechanical components
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts
- Familiarity with equipment repair procedures for heavy machinery and commercial vehicles
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repair tasks
- Experience in maintenance of hydraulic systems or electrical wiring is highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive attitude towards diagnostics and repairs
- Previous experience providing high-quality customer service within a technical environment is advantageous
