Bank St Dental in Galashiels celebrates its 100 anniversary this year! A proud NHS practice, it has been at the heart of the local community for generations, providing trusted dental care to Borders families.
The practice has a well-established team of four dentists, an experienced group of dental nurses and strong leadership from a highly experienced Practice Manager. In April 2026, Bank St Dental was acquired by Vermilion - The Smile Experts, a private referral-only multi-disciplinary clinic established in 2011 with practices in Edinburgh and Kelso.
Due to an established dentist moving on some months ago, we are seeking an NHS Dental Associate to join the team for three or four days a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri).
The successful applicant would inherit 1,500 registered NHS patients who are currently without a dentist. In addition, Bank Street Dental receives a steady flow of enquiries from patients seeking private treatment, providing an excellent opportunity to develop private income alongside NHS dentistry.
As part of our future plans, we intend to introduce a Hygiene Therapist working to full scope of practice, creating greater efficiency and allowing our dentists to focus on more complex clinical work.

To support your transition into the role, the successful candidate will also be eligible for the NHS Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA) of up to £25,000, payable over the first two years of employment in a three-year contract.
Vermilion Implant Training Programme
On Wednesdays, you will join the team at Vermilion’s Edinburgh and Kelso clinics for a structured 12-month Implant Training Programme, designed to provide comprehensive exposure to implant dentistry within a specialist referral environment.
Throughout the programme you will be mentored by Vermilion clinicians and gain experience in:
- Implant assessment and treatment planning
- Intraoral scanning (IOS)
- CBCT imaging and surgical planning
- Laboratory planning and digital 3D printing
- Assisting in implant surgery
- Immediate provisionalisation
- Post operative reviews
- The crucial work of hygienists
- Observing implant restoration from single implants, small bridges to full-arch
- Shadowing the work of annual implant reviews
- Problem solving for legacy cases
- Management of peri implantitis
- Implant audit, helping to produce clinical outcomes data
At the end of the 12 month programme, there will be the opportunity - subject to progress and performance - to join the Vermilion team one day a week, providing a clear pathway into multidisciplinary referral practice.
