Join a fast-growing garden retail group as their Regional Manager and take ownership of a key Central Midlands region with genuine opportunities for career development.
Regional Manager - Central Midlands
Full Time
Salary Flexible
We're looking for an exceptional Regional Manager to take ownership of a key Central Midlands region, supporting six established garden centres and working closely with some of the strongest-performing sites in the wider group.
This is a role for a brilliant multi-site retailer, ideally from a garden retail or related background, who knows how to lead through their managers, drive commercial performance and build great teams.
The opportunity
You'll have responsibility for a region spanning five garden centres across the Central Midlands, working closely with the Garden Centre Managers to drive performance, develop people and maintain consistently high standards across the region.
This is a varied estate, with some sites having a particularly strong horticultural identity, alongside some of the group's highest-performing centres.
You'll report directly to the Head of Retail, giving you real visibility at senior level and the opportunity to influence the wider direction of the business.
The role will suit someone who enjoys being out at their sites, getting under the skin of performance, developing strong managers and finding solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
Your responsibilities
- Lead, support and develop the Garden Centre Managers across your region
- Set clear direction and maintain consistently high standards across all sites
- Drive sales, profitability and commercial performance
- Manage and review multiple P&Ls, budgets, labour and stock
- Deliver against company KPIs and targets
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and operational efficiency
- Build strong, engaged and high-performing teams
- Coach and develop managers, with a strong focus on succession planning
- Lead on recruitment and people management across the region
- Manage performance and address issues quickly and effectively
- Troubleshoot operational challenges and provide practical solutions
- Ensure company systems, processes and standards are consistently followed
- Inspire teams to deliver excellent customer service and strong results
What we're looking for
You'll be an experienced multi-site retail operator with a proven track record of delivering results.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience as an Area Manager, Regional Manager or similar multi-site leader
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Experience managing multiple P&Ls
- A proven ability to develop and motivate managers
- Strong experience in people management and succession planning
- Excellent communication skills
- A confident, positive and engaging leadership style
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset
- High standards and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise and manage your time across multiple locations
- Strong IT and systems knowledge
- Plenty of energy, drive and ambition
Garden centre experience would be desired, or a related retail background.
The working pattern
- 5-day working week including some weekend work
- Regional Managers are expected to work either Saturday or Sunday during peak weekends
- Peak weekends primarily include Bank Holidays and the busiest May-June weekends
- Occasional additional weekend events throughout the year
The package
- Car allowance
- Free on-site parking
Why this role?
This is a chance to join a business going through significant growth, rather than stepping into a region where everything is already set in stone.
If you're a high-performing Area or Regional Manager who loves developing people, driving numbers and making things happen across multiple sites, this could be a very exciting next move.
