Job Title: KS3 SEN Teacher
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Duration: Temporary until October half term, with the potential to be extended
Pay Rate: from £140 - £220 per day (dependant on experience & qualifications)
We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join an SEN school in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and is confident creating a positive, structured and engaging learning environment.
Job Description:
- Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons across KS2 or KS3.
- Plan and adapt learning to meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils.
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
- Work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to support pupil progress.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress and contribute to appropriate planning.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour policies.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
Must Have:
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with KS2 or KS3 pupils in a school setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet individual pupil needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient and resilient approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Right to Work in the UK.
- Valid Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within an SEN or specialist school.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
- A strong understanding of additional needs and how they can impact learning and behaviour.
- Experience working with pupils with complex or challenging needs.
- Knowledge of strategies used to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Experience working collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching assistants and other professionals.
