Job Summary:
TJ Services is looking for a dedicated and skilled Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the automotive industry and skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of vehicles. The technician will work with a variety of makes and models, ensuring that each car is serviced to the highest standards of safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs: Use advanced diagnostic equipment and your expertise to identify faults in vehicles, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, and more. Perform repairs efficiently to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on cars, including oil changes, tyre rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and other essential services to keep customers’ vehicles in top condition.
- Customer Service: Communicate with customers about the issues with their vehicles and offer service recommendations. Ensure customers understand the repairs required and provide clear, honest advice.
- Test Driving & Quality Control: After repairs, perform test drives to ensure the vehicle operates as expected. Address any remaining issues and ensure the customer’s complete satisfaction.
- Preventive Maintenance: Advise customers on the importance of regular maintenance to avoid costly repairs in the future. Conduct pre-MOT inspections to identify potential issues early.
- Service Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance services. Ensure all job sheets are updated in the system.
- Tool & Equipment Management: Properly handle and maintain tools and equipment in the garage. Ensure that tools are cleaned, well-maintained, and stored safely after use.
- Safety Compliance: Follow company safety procedures and ensure all work is done in compliance with health and safety standards. Wear appropriate protective gear and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Service Technician in an automotive garage or dealership.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and explain technical issues in layman’s terms.
- Full UK driver’s license (required for test driving vehicles).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in automotive technology (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with a variety of car brands and models.
- Familiarity with MOT testing and preparation (if applicable).
- Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, Monday - Saturday, 5.5 days a week.
- Must be physically fit to perform vehicle repairs, lifting parts, and working in confined spaces.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
