Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Janitor to join our team at Fairhill Shopping Centre in Ballymena. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance and facilities within the centre. The Maintenance Operative will play a vital role in troubleshooting, repairing, and supervising maintenance activities across various departments, with cleaning roles in the service yards and car park.
This role is 20 hours per week with additional hours available for holiday and sickness cover, hours will include evenings and weekends at times, all breaks are paid during shift.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the shopping centre
- Emptied internal and external waste bins and ensured waste was disposed of correctly
- Carried out regular litter picking across public areas, entrances, pathways, and surrounding grounds
- Swept and brushed walkways to maintain a clean and safe environment for visitors
- Used power washing equipment to clean pavements and external surfaces
- Responded quickly to spillages and potential hazards to support health & safety standards
- Assisted with the general upkeep and maintenance of the shopping centre site
- Worked as part of the facilities team to provide a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for customers and staff
- Operated cleaning tools and machinery safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Use of a telehandler to empty bins in the service yards so a driving licence is essential.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
