Join us at Nordell as one of the UK’s leading plastics manufacturing and design refinement companies. We are looking for a Production Operator to support the Mould Shop and Production team with the manufacture of plastic components and the safe operation of production machinery.

This is a hands-on production role involving the operation of injection moulding machinery, preparation of tools, jigs and fixtures, and completion of manufacturing tasks to the required quality and cycle-time standards.
The Production Operator will work closely with Team Leaders, Supervisors and Production Management to support safe, efficient output, reduce waste, and maintain high housekeeping and quality standards across the shop floor.
This position is a perm anent and full-time role, working a fixed day or night shift pattern of 44 hours per week.
Main duties
- Operate production and injection moulding machinery safely and responsibly.
- Manufacture parts in line with company quality, accuracy and cycle-time requirements.
- Prepare injection moulding tools, jigs and fixtures for production.
- Follow standard rating procedures across the shop floor and workstation.
- Complete work through the required stages of manufacture using the correct machinery and processes.
- Read and follow basic engineering drawings, quality visual aids and departmental quality requirements.
- Inspect work and support quality checks throughout the production process.
- Work towards departmental output, efficiency and safety targets.
- Support scrap reduction, waste reduction and improvement activities.
- Maintain 5S and general housekeeping standards within the department.
- Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Follow health and safety, manual handling and company procedures at all times.
- Adapt to changing production priorities and manage several tasks where required.
- Request technical advice or assistance from Team Leaders and Production Management when needed.
- Assist with maintenance, improvement projects, and other reasonable production tasks.
Skills
- Good general education with sound numeracy skills.
- Ability to understand basic engineering drawings and quality instructions.
- Experience operating injection moulding machinery is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of concentration.
- Practical problem-solving ability.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to communicate at different levels, with a good proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work safely and responsibly with production machinery.
