We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Plant Mechanic to join our busy maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys fault-finding, preventative maintenance and keeping specialist equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Working within our workshop, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing the specialist plant and equipment fitted to our fleet of Hyper-Vac trucks, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and ready for operation.
What you’ll be doing
· Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on specialist plant equipment.
· Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.
· Servicing and maintaining hydraulic systems, compressed air systems and water pump systems.
· Using plug-in diagnostic equipment/software to identify faults.
· Repairing and replacing mechanical components including pumps, valves, motors, bearings and associated equipment.
· Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
· Maintaining accurate service and maintenance records.
· Working safely in accordance with company procedures and health and safety legislation.
What we’re looking for
Essential
· Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Plant Mechanic or Plant Engineer.
· Experience with 12- & 24-volt electrics.
· Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
· Experience working with compressed air systems.
· Knowledge of water pump systems.
· Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
· Experience using diagnostic equipment.
· Ability to read engineering drawings and technical manuals.
· Full UK driving licence.
