Nursery Cook & Cleaner
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–2:00pm
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and organised Nursery Cook & Cleaner to join our friendly nursery team.
This is a varied role combining the preparation of nutritious meals for young children with responsibility for maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety throughout the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen & Cooking
- Prepare and cook fresh, healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for young children.
- Cater appropriately for allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements and individual needs.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards.
- Complete and maintain all required food safety records, temperature checks, cleaning schedules and documentation.
- Manage food stock, rotation, storage and ordering, ensuring appropriate date checking and reducing waste.
- Follow allergen management procedures and ensure meals are prepared and served safely.
- Maintain the kitchen to a high standard at all times.
Cleaning
- Carry out daily cleaning duties throughout the nursery.
- Clean and sanitise bathrooms, communal areas, floors and other designated areas.
- Follow nursery cleaning schedules and infection-control procedures.
- Ensure cleaning products and equipment are stored safely and securely away from children.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have previous experience working within a professional kitchen and experience of Environmental Health inspections.
You should have a good understanding of:
- Food hygiene and food safety requirements
- Environmental Health standards and inspections
- Allergen management
- Safer food preparation, storage and temperature control
- Maintaining accurate kitchen and food-safety records
- High standards of cleanliness and infection control
A current Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification is desirable.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.80-£13.00 per hour
