EYFS Teaching Assistant – Bishop Auckland

We’re currently working with a fantastic range of Primary Schools in and around Bishop Auckland that are looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant to work on supply. Work flexibly around your existing responsibilities with day to day cover, short-term and ongoing opportunities available.

What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting children in nursery and reception including whole-class support, group, and 1:1 interventions
- Working with pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH, behavioural challenges, emotional dysregulation, and EHCPs
- Delivering or assisting with phonics interventions (experience within either following Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics, or Sounds Write is desirable)
- Running or supporting therapy-based interventions for small groups or individuals
- Using positive behaviour management approaches – experience with PACE and Restorative behaviour model approach
- Helping children manage their emotions and feel safe, supported, and confident in school
What we're looking for:
- Level 2/3 qualification or higher in a relevant field (e.g. Teaching Assistant, Education, Early Years, Child Psychology, or Early Childhood Studies)
- Experience supporting children across EYFS
- Strong background in 1:1 support, particularly with SEMH and lower ability learners
- Knowledge or experience in phonics and academic interventions
- A nurturing, calm, and proactive approach with excellent communication skills
- A willingness to adapt and contribute positively in mainstream classes
